Dutch carrier KLM has cancelled around 70 flights tomorrow (Friday December 7) because of “expected heavy snow fall in Amsterdam”.
Business Traveller was alerted to the news on our forum, and the carrier’s website confirms that routes from Amsterdam to airports including Heathrow, Manchester, Bristol, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Cardiff, Newcastle and Leeds Bradford have been cancelled.
KLM says that in addition to the cancelled services, “de-icing our aircraft may delay departures”.
Customers affected by cancellations are offered the option of obtaining a refund, or changing their day or destination of travel.
Brussels airport is also warning of delays, with the following notice on its website:
"Between 0000 and 0700 tonight heavy snowfall is expected over the north of Europe and Belgium with negative ground temperatures. As a result of de-icing operations, both departing and arriving flights may be delayed.
"As the snowfall will also affect road traffic, passengers are advised to leave for the airport well ahead of their departure time."
