Luxury hotel group Kempinski has opened its latest European property, the 75-room Kempinski Hybernska in Prague.

The hotel is located in a renovated 17th-century Baroque palace on Hybernska St, close to Prague’s cultural attractions including the Powder Gate and Charles Bridge. Rooms start from the Superior category (average size 28 sqm) although 62 of the 75 on offer are one or two-bedroom suites (starting at 54 sqm).

All rooms include complimentary wifi internet access, flatscreen TV, DVD player and “media panel” with iPod connections, while suites feature a separate parquet floor living area, kitchenette, guest toilet and walk-in wardrobe.

There are three food and beverage choices, including the fine dining Le Grill restaurant, Two Steps Bar serving cocktails, tapas dishes and bar food, and Lobby Lounge located in the atrium.

For meetings there are four 50-sqm rooms on the second floor (where the hotel’s gym is also situated), as well as the 1,800-sqm outdoor Garden at Kempinski, which can accommodate up to 300 guest for a cocktail reception.

The opening of the Kempinski Hybernska property signals the start of a busy period for the German hotel group. Next up is the 185-room Kempinski Palace Portoroz in Slovenia, with is due to be unveiled this week, while properties in Indonesia, Jordan and India are also due to open before the end of the year. Openings slated for 2009 and beyond include Morocco, Kazakhstan, China, Latvia, Syria, Bahrain, Jordan, Lebanon, Dubai, Lithuania, Slovakia and Croatia.
