Cheap date
Ryanair’s annual charity calendar is on target to raise €110,000 for children’s charity KIDS, with just 500 copies of the 11,000 print run still available for purchase. The calendar features the airline’s cabin crew, including 22-year old Hannah Darbyshire as Miss January (pictured). Suddenly travelling with Ryanair seems a much more attractive prospect…
A vein attempt
A fruit juice containing “a special extract of tomatoes” could be the answer to Deep Vein Thrombosis, according to its manufacturers. Sirco juices containing Fruitflow have been proven by the European Food Standards Authority to “help maintain normal platelet aggregation, which contributes to healthy blood flow”, which the company says makes it “perfect for daily use or prior to a flight or long journey”. I guess it will either be a great success or else the idea will run out of juice.
Have a break…
Kit Kat is celebrating its 75th anniversary by producing special gift packs available in airports, and on airlines and ferries. The limited edition packaging depicts original logos, and timelines detailing the history of the chocolate snack from 1935 to the present day. Apparently every five minutes enough Kit Kat is manufactured to outstack the Eiffel Tower, which seems like a waste of perfectly good chocolate to me.
Right on cue
A different kind of break now, as snooker ace Ronnie O’Sullivan is planning to use a special purple cue at next week’s Masters event, as part of his sponsorship by hotel chain Premier Inn. The budget brand will also be giving away 147 hotel nights if “The Rocket” makes a maximum break during the tournament. Potential winners should email perfectbreak@premierinn.com as soon as the break occurs, as the nights will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, rather than pot luck.
The big screen
TV addicts should check out the presidential suite at the recently-opened Kempinski Hotel Adriatic, where Bang & Olufsen has installed its largest TV ever to feature in a hotel room. The Beovision 4-103 features a 103-inch HD plasma screen and high-grade aluminium frame, with automatic picture control and an anti-reflection coated contrast screen. Now all you’ve got to do is find the remote control.
