Jet2 launches Glasgow base
Published: 15/09/2010 - Filed under: News »
Leeds-based low-cost carrier Jet2 is to launch its 8th UK base at Glasgow airport next year, with routes including Nice, Tunisia and Sharm El Sheikh.
Starting in March 2011, the carrier will initially fly to a total of nine destinations from Glasgow, adding to the airline’s main hub at Leeds Bradford, and bases in Belfast, Blackpool, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Manchester and Newcastle.
The new routes are:
Nice
Alicante
Dalaman
Faro
Tunisia
Majorca
Paphos
Sharm el Sheikh
Tenerife
The announcement is good news for Glasgow airport, which lost several routes when Flyglobespan went into administration at the end of 2009 (see online news December 16, 2009).

I bet that move was to replace FlyGlobespan which flew many routes including one to Florida (Sanford/Orlando I believe). I cannot keep up with the number of Scottish carriers going out of business.
