Japan Airlines has become the latest carrier to offer a premium economy cabin, with the launch of its new product on December 1.
It’s available on the prime London Heathrow-Tokyo route and to celebrate the occasion JAL is offering passengers a 50 per cent discount on the normal rate.
Passengers who book by December 31, 2007 and travel between Monday and Thursday from December 26, 2007 to February 28, 2008, will pay a special online rate of £979 return, compared with the full fare of £2,212. (The discount fare allows travel both to Tokyo and beyond to Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Okinawa and other cities in Japan.)
JAL is installing completely new seating in its premium economy cabin. The seats are disposed eight across (2-4-2) on the B777, with 97cm of legroom. Passengers are entitled to use special check-in counters and the business class lounges. There is also enhanced catering.
