Sol Melia is to expand its Innside by Melia brand outside Germany, with a 100-apartment Barcelona property due to open in 2011.

Innside Barcelona will be aimed at long-stay guests, with one, two, three and four-bedroom apartments ranging from 60 to 160sqm. Facilities will include a restaurant, rooftop swimming pool and a 9th floor fitness centre.

The hotel will be housed within the 19-floor LC Torre Europa building on Plaza Europa in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat, a commercial and residential development in the southern suburbs of Barcelona, close to the city’s airport.

The Innside brand was acquired by Sol Melia in 2007, and is currently limited to destinations within Germany, although the group says it has an “ambitious expansion plan focused on other European countries”.
