IHG tops out Olympic hotels

27 Jun 2011 by BusinessTraveller

IHG has held a topping out ceremony for its Holiday Inn and Staybridge Suite properties located in the Westfield Stratford City development overlooking the Olympic Park.

No exact date has been given for the opening of the two hotels, but IHG says that the completion of the steel structure “places the hotels on track to open ahead of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games”.

The development comprises a 188-room Holiday Inn hotel, and a 162-suite Staybridge Suites property located above it (starting on the 11th floor).

The hotels are situated within Westfield Stratford City , which will be the largest shopping centre in Europe when it opens, and will include retail and leisure space, offices, homes and community facilities.

The development is situated “minutes away from the newly refurbished Startford Regional Station”, with underground links to central London.
