Intercontinental Hotels Group says it will open 37 hotels across the UK “over the next few years”, creating 3,000 new jobs.
The expansion of the group’s UK portfolio is part of global plans to open 1,200 hotels, which it says will create some 160,000 jobs.
Specific details of the new UK hotels have not been given, although IHG recently opened the Crowne Plaza Heythrop Park Oxford, and has an Intercontinental hotel under development in London’s Westminster (see online news October 27, 2009), as well as Hotel Indigo properties in Liverpool and Glasgow (see online news October 9, 2009).
