Iberia to launch Madrid-Glasgow route

Iberia’s regional franchise partner Air Nostrum is to launch twice-weekly flights between Madrid and Glasgow this November.
According to a press release on the carrier's website the service will commence on November 1, with the outbound leg departing Madrid on Monday and Thursday at 1040, arriving in Glasgow at 1355, and the return leg leaving the Scottish city on Tuesday and Thursday at 1305, arriving in the Spanish capital at 1635.
Air Nostrum, also known as Iberia Regional, is an independent airline operating as a franchisee of Iberia. The carrier operates mainly Bombardier CRJ aircraft.
There are currently no non-stop flights between Glasgow and Madrid – BA offers connections at Heathrow.

This seems to be excellent news and, hopefully, a toe-in-the-water to presage the development of routes to Madrid from other UK regions. Personally, I'd like to see every BA domestic station served with a choice of BA to Heathrow and IB to Madrid for onward connections.

Every BA domestic station? That won't be difficult -- London Airways serves very few places in the UK any more. Every KLM British station? That would be a far more ambitious target
