Iberia cabin crew stage strike

Spanish carrier Iberia has cancelled over 400 flights including services from London to Madrid, due to a two-day strike by cabin crew.

The strike is taking place today and tomorrow (October 26 and 27) in support of wage demands, and has seen Iberia cancel 440 domestic, European and transatlantic services. Flights between London and Madrid are affected, as are those between Madrid and New York.

A statement on the carrier’s website states that “Because of the strike called by the CTA and SITCPLA cabin attendants unions, Iberia is cancelling some flights scheduled for 26-27 October, since they are not covered by the minimum services requirement established by Spanish authorities”.

Note that services operated by Vueling (in which Iberia holds a 45 per cent stake) are not affected by the strike.

For more information on cancelled flights and Iberia advice for those passengers with tickets for affected services, visit iberia.com.
