Hyatt set for Moscow opening

19 Aug 2008 by Mark Caswell

Moscow will gain its second Hyatt property this December, when the boutique Grand Hyatt Residences and Spa opens on the Krasnopresnenskaya Embankment.

The hotel will be housed in the Tower West of the Federation Complex, part of the $12bn Moscow-City project. The development is located 4km north-west of the Kremlin, and will feature 18 suites ranging from 90 to 245sqm, as well as seven residential spa guestrooms on 60th floor.

Suite facilities will include individual kitchens, a wine cave, humidor, espresso machine, “exquisite china and cutlery”, and wifi internet access. There will also be a restaurant and lounge on the 62nd floor, and a spa and fitness centre on the 60th and 61st floors, with a 20-metre swimming pool, traditional Russian bath, exercise studio, yoga room and juice bar.

The hotel will be the highest in Russia at 243 metres, but will be dwarfed by the forthcoming Tower East, a 94-floor, 360-metre high building attached to Tower West by glass bridges.

When completed in 2010, Tower East will house the 368-room Grand Hyatt Moscow complete with a 91st floor lobby. The building is on course to become the largest in Europe, although it will itself be outdone by the 506-metre spire also being built within the complex.
