The Hyatt Regency London – The Churchill is to undergo a “multi-million-pound” refurbishment of all guestrooms and the creation of six new suites and an expanded Regency Club Lounge.

Six new Regency Studio Suites will be created as part of the renovation, and each will feature an en-suite dressing room and bar, and de-misting mirrors and TVs in the bathroom. The new suites will also have flatscreen TVs and DVD players.

The hotel’s Regency Club Lounge will go from two to three floors, with 16 guestrooms on the seventh floor sacrificed in the process. The lounge on the eighth floor is also due for a face lift and extension to provide new seating areas.

Hyatt said the hotel would remain fully operational during the refurbishment with work completed in phases, and any affected facilities temporarily relocated. Work is due to begin on February 2 and is expected to be completed by mid-May.

Interior designers Hunt Hamilton Zuch Ltd have been charged with the renovation. Hyatt said the guestrooms and suites would “continue to be light and airy with a contemporary and elegant feel”. Rooms are expected to be decorated in “taupe, chocolate and warm grey with mauve and purple accents”.

The creation of six new suites, along with the removal of 16 guestrooms on the seventh floor, will take the hotel's room count from 444 to 434.

The Hyatt Regency London is the latest London hotel to announce a refurbishment or opening. The Four Seasons London at Park Lane is due to reopen on January 31 following an extensive refurb, while W London will open on Leicester Square on February 14. The Corinthia Hotel London is now taking reservations, while the St Pancras Renaissance Hotel London will follow suit on March 14.
