Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) has opened its second Hotel Indigo property in Scotland, a 60-room hotel housed within a listed 18th century building in Edinburgh’s city centre.
Hotel Indigo Edinburgh is located on York Place, within walking distance of Princes Street and the city’s mainline Waverley railway station.
Five residential properties have been combined to create the hotel, with original features retained including decorative stairwells and cupolas.
Rooms offer free wifi and fridges with complimentary snacks and soft drinks, and facilities include a 24-hour fitness centre, and Turquoise Thistle bar and restaurant, serving “classic and modern Scottish dishes with a contemporary twist”.
IHG said the interior design of the hotel “reflects the local area”, with images of St Andrews Square, Calton Hill and the Georgian Terraces throughout the property.
It’s the second property by IHG’s boutique brand in Scotland, joining Hotel Indigo Glasgow which opened last year (see online news April 15, 2011).
Hotel Indigo debuted in the UK in London’s Paddington in 2009 (see online news January 20, 2009), and has since expanded with properties in London’s Tower Bridge (see online news July 7, 2010), Glasgow and Liverpool (see online news June 6, 2011).
