Hotel Indigo debuts in Barcelona

6 Feb 2013 by ScottCarey7

Intercontinental Hotels Group’s (IHG) boutique brand Hotel Indigo has made its debut in Spain with the opening of the Barcelona Plaza Catalunya property this month.

The hotel is located centrally, in Barcelona’s Eixample District, a few minutes walk from Plaza Catalunya metro and train station.

There are 77 individually designed bedrooms, and according to the group design has been “inspired by Gaudi’s Modernisme movement", with "decorative features with soft edges and an ornamental façade". Rooms come with LCD TVs and a free mini-bar, stocked with snacks and drinks.

There is a fitness room and outdoor pool and wifi is complimentary throughout the hotel, including on the poolside terrace.

The hotel’s restaurant Gastro Bar Catalunya serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, specialising in traditional Spanish dishes.

Diego Alvarez, IHG’s director of hotel performance support, Southern Europe said, “We’re excited to be bringing IHG’s boutique hotel brand to Spain for the first time. We currently have ten properties in Europe and we plan to open a further 14 Hotel Indigos in the region in the next three to five years.”
