Hilton to open Syon Park property

Hilton has announced the development of a 151-room hotel within historic Syon Park in West London, due to open in late 2009.

Owned by the Duke of Northumberland and comprising 200 acres of parkland and the 16th-century Syon House, Syon Park is located across the River Thames from Kew Gardens, close to the A4 and around twenty minutes from Heathrow airport.

The new-build property is being developed by The Ability Group on a site adjacent to the former London Butterfly House (which closed in 2007), and had previously been earmarked for a Radisson Edwardian hotel. Ability already has a relationship with Hilton through its ownership of the Doubletree by Hilton Cambridge and Doubletree by Hilton Dunblane hotels, and will also be working with Hilton on the new Hilton Liverpool project, due to open in summer 2009.

The Syon Park hotel will feature 151 rooms, 1,000 sqm of meeting space, and several restaurants and bars. A spa will also be developed alongside the hotel, to be operated by Spa Chakra. As part of the agreement The Ability Group is investing in the restoration and conservation of various Syon Park features, including the Adam oval carriageway in front of Syon House, and the Duchess Gate, which will be reopened for pedestrian use for the first time since before the Second World War.
