Hilton opens 200th hotel in Europe

The group has opened a total of 50 properties in Europe over the last three years, with recent additions including the Doubletree by Hilton Varna – Golden Sands in Bulgaria, and the Hampton by Hilton Derby City Centre.

Hilton Worldwide says that 20 per cent of its European portfolio is now comprised of brands that until recently had not been present in the region, including Doubletree, Garden Inn and Hampton by Hilton.

The Doubletree by Hilton Varna – Golden Sands is located in the Golden Sand Natural Park overlooking the Black Sea Coast, and has the distinction of being the 200th Hilton property in Europe. The refurbished, rebranded hotel features two restaurants, indoor and outdoor pools and spa facilities.

Hampton by Hilton Derby City Centre has become the eighth Doubletree property in the UK, and is located within the Derby Riverlights development, featuring 117 rooms, a business centre and health club.

Hilton currently has 80 European properties in the pipeline, all scheduled to open in the next three years. Among these include two Hampton by Hilton airport properties in the UK –at Exeter International airport (the headquarters of Flybe – see online news September 23), and Gatwick’s North Terminal (see online news October 29).
