Heathrow Express set for strike disruption

The RMT union has called a total of six days of industrial action in protest over the sacking of a Heathrow Express driver, with the first walkout set to take place this Sunday and Monday.

The union says it will strike between 1215 on Sunday February 26 and 1214 on Monday February 27, and again between the same hours on Sunday March 11 and Monday March 12.

In addition the RMT plans to take “action short of strike by not working any additional hours” between the hours of 0300 on Saturday March 3  and 0259 on Monday March 5.

In a statement the union said that despite a series of meeting Heathrow Express had refused to reinstate driver Zahid Majid, and that “As a result of the management’s disproportionate action and sheer intransigence all driver members at Heathrow Express will take industrial action”.

Heathrow Express said it was “disappointed” by the decision, and has published a revised timetable for this weekend, with services departing every 30 minutes. For more details click here.
