Germanwings launches bundled pricing

Passengers can now purchase bundled tickets including seat selection and checked luggage, at a 25 percent discount over buying the “extras” separately. The carrier has also introduced the option of buying adjacent empty seats.

The new pricing options mean customers can choose between Basic, Best and Flex fares, offering differing benefits. Basic, as the name would suggest, covers the basic cost of the flight, hand luggage up to 8kg, and miles within the carrier’s Boomerang Club loyalty scheme, while Best also includes one piece of checked luggage, advance seat selection, and an onboard snack and drink. Germanwings says that buying this bundled fare is 25 percent cheaper than purchasing the extras separately.

Flex fares include all of the benefits of the Best option, plus the ability to change your booking without charge (or cancel it for a €25 fee), plus checked luggage allowance up to five pieces, and double Boomerang Club miles.

Germanwings has also launched a “Private Seat” option, allowing passengers to purchase the seat next to them to ensure it stays free. This can be done at any time from the point of purchase up to three hours before departure, with customers being charged the current seat price on the day of booking, although the service “will not attract any additional booking or processing fees”.
