Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts will open a property in downtown Manhattan towards the end of this year, next to the historic Woolworth Building and steps away from the World Trade Center site.
The opening of Four Seasons New York Downtown will bring the Canadian brand back to having two hotels in New York, having previously managed The Pierre, now a Taj Hotel.
Designed by Robert A.M. Stern, the 82-story limestone building will have 185 rooms and suites on its first 22 floors, with above it a luxury residential component called Thirty Park Place.
Interiors are designed by Yabu Pushelberg, with a mix of muted colours (grey, white, blue and green) and wood and metallic accents.
The hotel will have the first Wolfgang Puck CUT restaurant and bar on the East Coast, a bar overlooking Church Street, a spa with indoor pool, and a range of meeting spaces. Rooms on higher floors facing southwest will have views of the 9/11 memorial fountains and Santiago Calatrava’s ‘World Trade Center Transportation Hub’.
While it is working on its new downtown property, Four Seasons has also begun room renovations at its I.M. Pei-designed hotel on 57th Street. Three room categories currently have new photos against them, showing updated décor with sycamore panelling and new furniture, including custom oak writing desks.
Studio 57 is an ‘Upper Tower’ guest room category, measuring 27 square meters (300 sq ft) with views to the south and west. Junior Suites, either with Park Avenue or Central Park views, have 46 square meters (500 sq ft) of open-plan space. Deluxe Manhattan Suites are over double the size, with a separate living room with dining table, and come with the option of extending into a two-bedroom suite.
In addition to these first room renovations, the hotel has added TY Bar in the 57th street lobby, named after owner Ty Warner, and FIFTY7, an art deco-inspired event space that can accommodate up to 200 guests.
