Flybe to drop Manchester-Brussels route

17 Aug 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Flybe is to drop its service between Manchester and Brussels from mid-September.

Business Traveller was alerted to the news by industry website airlineroute.net, and a look at the carrier’s online reservations system shows no flights available after September 9.

Flybe has provided us with the following statement:

"Flybe can confirm that it is cancelling its Manchester to Brussels service with the last flight operating on Sunday September 9th.

"Flybe carefully reviews the viability of all its 200 plus routes on a regular basis, taking into consideration passenger numbers and external cost pressures. This is done not only to monitor where it can offer increased regularity on any given route, but also where passenger numbers make a route uneconomical."

Other carriers currently serving the Manchester-Brussels route include Brussels Airlines, and Ryanair, which flies into Brussels South Charleroi Airport.
