Finnair has launched a new lifetime status benefit for loyal members of its Finnair Plus frequent flyer scheme.
Members earning 3,000,000 tier points will receive lifetime Gold status, while those earning 5,000,000 tier points will receive lifetime Platinum status.
All tier points accrued by members since joining the Finnair Plus programme will count towards the new lifetime status benefit, and tier points earned on both Finnair and Oneworld partner airlines will count towards the total.
To put the million tier points requirement into context, members need to accrue 40,000 tier points to earn annual Silver status, 90,000 for Gold status, and 150,000 for Platinum status.
Lifetime status is a popular benefit among US airline frequent traveller schemes. AA, Delta and United all offer “Million Miler” programmes, offering lifetime elite tier status for their most loyal members.
The Finnair Plus scheme is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year – for more information on the lifetime status benefits and other anniversary promotions, visit finnair.fi/plus.
