Fairmont Hotels and Resorts has joined the growing list of brands due to open properties in the Azerbaijan capital of Baku next year.
The group has yet to release full details regarding the facilities at the forthcoming Fairmont Baku, but the hotel will feature 347 rooms and is due to open in early 2011.The property forms part of the mixed-use Flame Towers project, which will also include residential and commercial space, and will be located next to the city’s parliament buildings overlooking the Caspian Sea.
Fairmont is one of a number of hotel groups currently developing properties in Baku, a city with a fast-growing economy due to the country’s resurging oil industry. Four Seasons, Marriott and Hilton are all due to open properties in the city centre next year – for a full report on hotel developments in Baku, subscribe to the forthcoming May issue of Business Traveller.
