Fairmont seals Riyadh hotel deal

1 Mar 2011 by AndrewGough

Fairmont Hotels & Resorts is to manage a 287-room hotel and 4,000sqm convention centre in Riyadh, which is due to open late 2012.

The convention centre will contain two main ballrooms offering 1,500sqm each and groups will have access to a number of smaller conference and board rooms, some with private break-out spaces, with a conference service team on hand ready to manage any event size.

Located just north of the city, Fairmont Riyadh Business Gate will be part of a new mixed-use development project comprising the hotel, convention centre and commercial real estate space that will house multinational corporations as well as regional companies.

The destination is a growing business area, with a number of new developments including the King Abdullah Financial District, Princess Nora University and Hospital, Riyadh Technology Park and Financial District, all projected to open in the next few years.

Hotel guests will enjoy a selection of dining venues as well as spa and fitness facilities.

“Riyadh is currently undergoing tremendous development, becoming a key financial and business destination for not only Saudia Arabia, but the Middle East,” said Chris Cahill, President, Fairmont Hotels & Resorts. “The influx of both public and private investment is creating a great opportunity for business travel.”
