Eurostar disruption to continue

12 Sep 2008 by Mark Caswell

Train operator Eurostar says it does not expect to resume services today (September 12), following yesterday's fire in the tunnel.

The Channel Tunnel closed yesterday afternoon after a fire broke out on a freight train around seven miles from Calais, and the tunnel remains shut.

A statement on Eurostar's website says that travellers holding tickets for Friday are advised they will be unable to travel by Eurostar. Tickets for Friday September 12 can be exchanged for travel at a later date, or passengers can request a refund.

Travellers booked on Eurostar over the weekend (Saturday 13 & Sunday 14 September) are advised to visit eurostar.com for further updates.
