Etihad unveils new Washington DC lounge

8 Apr 2013 by ScottCarey7
Etihad Airways unveiled its new premium lounge at Dulles International Airport over the weekend, following the March 31 launch of the carrier’s daily service between Abu Dhabi and Washington DC (see online news February 2012). The 483 sq m split-level lounge features buffet and a la carte dining areas; business amenities including Apple computers and free wifi; bathrooms with shower facilities; and family entertainment areas. Located next to Etihad’s departure gate in Terminal A, the lounge provides premium passengers with direct access to the aircraft. The lounge forms part of a US$50 million investment over the next 12 months to increase the number of premium lounges across the Etihad network, including planned openings in New York, Sydney and Melbourne (see online news June 2012). The carrier currently has first and business class lounges in Abu Dhabi, as well as premium lounges in Dublin, Frankfurt, London, Manchester and Paris. James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ president and chief executive officer, said: “In creating our guest experience we derive our inspiration not by looking at other airlines but by benchmarking ourselves against some of the world’s leading hotels and restaurants.” For more information visit etihad.com.
