Etihad launches economy chauffeur service

Economy passengers can now avail of Etihad Airways’ chauffeur service at Heathrow airport, for a charge.
The carrier’s Pearl business and Diamond first class passengers already benefit from a complimentary chauffeur service to and from Heathrow airport, and economy travellers can now opt for a similar paid-for service.
Etihad says the new option “is competitively priced, with rates comparable to London’s black cabs”, and is available to passengers arriving or departing the airport.
Customers are guaranteed a BMW or Mercedes chauffeur vehicle, and also benefit from chauffeur greeting at the arrivals hall, luggage assistance, and kerb-side drop off.
Commenting on the new service Etihad’s CEO Peter Baumgartner said:
“We designed this innovative new service in response to customer research highlighting that our guests would be keen on such an offering. Where we see an interest from our guests, we are pleased to rise to the occasion and even go farther to exceed their expectations. We look forward to extending this offering to other destinations in line with customer demand.”
Etihad offers complimentary chauffeur services for its premium passengers at 29 locations, with Milan Malpensa airport being added in late 2012 (see online news November 15, 2012).
