Birmingham International has a new “luxury haven” thanks to Emirates, which this week officially opened a £1.3 million dedicated lounge at the airport.
The 650sqm facility is available to all Emirates’ first and business class passengers, plus Gold members of its Skywards loyalty programme, travelling on the twice-daily Birmingham to Dubai service.
The lounge is situated in Birmingham’s Terminal 1 building, opposite Emirates’ departure gate, Gate 54 (part of the new international pier). There are seats for 117 passengers, with showers, plasma TVs, a business centre and free internet access.
A team of gourmet chefs, preparing hot and cold meals, will make sure all passengers are fed and watered.
Emirates said the lounge’s £1.3 million price tag represented a “significant investment” at Birmingham which “further highlighted” the airline’s commitment to the Midlands.
The airline offers a twice-daily service from Birmingham to Dubai, where passengers can connect on to the rest of its long haul network.
