Emirates to serve Beijing with A380

Emirates will add Beijing to its list of destinations served by the A380 later this year, when it rosters the superjumbo onto its morning EK306 service from Dubai.

The carrier will be the first to launch a scheduled service to the Chinese capital (although Singapore Airlines did operate the A380 into the city for a brief period during the 2008 Olympic Games).

Emirates currently operates a twice-daily flight to Beijing, and its morning EK306 (departing 0410 and arriving 1510) will be plied with the A380 from August 1, along with return flight EK307, which leaves Beijing at 2355 and arrives back in Dubai at 0420 the next day.

At the time of writing Emirates’ website was still showing the B777-300ER as serving these flights, but the change of aircraft has been confirmed by the carrier. The move means Emirates will serve a total of nine routes with the A380, including Toronto, London Heathrow, Paris, Seoul, Bangkok, Sydney/Auckland (with one aircraft) and Jeddah.
