Edinburgh and Gatwick lose Delta routes

15 Jun 2009 by Mark Caswell

Delta will suspend four transatlantic routes this autumn, although the carrier says it still plans to go ahead with new routes including Prague-New York and LA-Sydney.

On August 29 flights to Cincinnati from London Gatwick and Frankfurt will cease followed by services to New York JFK from Edinburgh and Bucharest on September 19.

That leaves Delta with no flights at all from Edinburgh, while Gatwick will only be left with the carrier’s existing Atlanta route. The move comes as the US carrier adjusts capacity to meet demand on the routes in question.

However Delta says that a number of new services, scheduled to be launched in the coming months, will proceed as planned. These include Los Angeles to Sydney (a key route for globetrotters on RTW tickets), Prague to New York JFK and Paris CDG to Pittsburgh.
