Ebola outbreak: BA suspends flights to Liberia and Sierra Leone

5 Aug 2014 by Tom Otley

British Airways has suspended its flights to Liberia and Sierra Leone "due to the deteriorating public health situation in both countries".

Both nations are facing a widening crisis due to an ebola outbreak.

BA said the suspension is temporary and that its decision will be reviewed at the end of this month.

A statement on ba.com said: "British Airways has temporarily suspended flights to and from Liberia and Sierra Leone until August 31 due to the deteriorating public health situation in both countries.

"The safety of our customers, crew and ground teams is always our top priority and we will keep the routes under constant review in the coming weeks."

Emirates suspended flights to Conarky, Guinea earlier this week.
