East Midlands opens new lounge at St Pancras
Published: 27/08/2008 - Filed under: News »
The new first class lounge will be warmly welcomed by domestic rail passengers (or at least by those qualifying for entry). Since Eurostar”s arrival at the station, domestic rail passengers bound for the likes of Leicester, Nottingham or Sheffield have been relegated to a meagre four platform extension at the station with nowhere comfortable to wait until their train is called. The problem has become more acute because more passengers are using the services than ever before.
This particular rail franchise (previously managed by Midland Mainline) is a top performer. According to industry magazine Modern Railways, passenger volume doubled in the first 10 years of privatisation - a better performance than any other franchise.
The East Midlands Trains' lounge will be open to all higher fare first class passengers. It covers those using First inclusive, First plus breakfast, First plus breakfast, First open, First saver and First season tickets.
Complimentary refreshments and snacks will be available. The lounge will be open between Monday and Friday.
