Airbus, Embraer and Boeing have all confirmed commercial aircraft orders at this year’s Dubai Airshow. Business Traveller rounds up the latest news.

Ethiopian Airlines has ordered 12 Airbus A350 XWB (Xtra-Wide-Body) aircraft. This adds to the airline’s on-order fleet of ten Boeing 787 Dreamliners (see online news July 29) and five Boeing 777-200LRs.

Yemenia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for ten Airbus A320 aircraft. They will be configured for 12 passengers in business class and 138 in economy, and used on regional, African, Indian and European routes.

Oman Air has ordered five Embraer E175 aircraft, with the first delivery scheduled for the first quarter of 2011. The carrier will become the first E-Jet operator in the Gulf region.

Algerian carrier Tassili Airlines has placed an order for four Boeing 737-800 aircraft, while Air Algerie has announced an order for seven of the same aircraft.

Air Austral has confirmed its order for two Airbus A380 superjumbos, which will be configured in an all-economy class layout seating around 840 passengers. The carrier plans to use the aircraft on its route between La Reunion and Paris (see online news January 19).

Nepal Airlines has signed a MoU for one A330-200 wide-body (for use on routes to Europe and North Asia) and one A320 single aisle aircraft (to be deployed on regional routes as far as the Middles East and South East Asia).

Air Astana has confirmed an order for two Embraer E190 jets, scheduled for delivery in the first quarter of 2011 and configured for nine seats in first class and 88 in economy.
