Dorchester Collection to open Coworth Park property

22 Sep 2010 by BusinessTraveller

Luxury hotel group the Dorchester Collection will open its second UK property next week, with the unveiling of Coworth Park, a 70-room country house hotel and spa.

Located close to Ascot racecourse and Windsor Great Park, and around 30 minutes’ drive from Heathrow, the hotel is situated in 240 acres of parkland, sunken gardens, lime groves and meadows. Features include three restaurants headed up by Michelin-starred chef John Campbell, as well as two polo fields, an equestrian centre, an indoor pool, and an “eco-luxury spa”.

The property is housed within a Georgian building dating back to 1776, formerly home to the 17th Earl of Lord Derby who lived there until his death in 1948, and subsequently serving as a convent school and offices, before being taken over by the Dorchester Collection in 2001.

The hotel features 70 rooms and suites split across the Stables, Cottages and Mansion House, with rooms starting at 31sqm, and a choice of 16 suites including Dower House, a private building with its own dining room, lounge, kitchen and snug, and a secluded garden with its own stream, home to the park’s swans.

The hotel’s spa will feature 100 percent organic treatments created by Dr Alkatis, and the hotel has incorporated several eco measures including a bio mass boiler fuelled by willow grown on the estate, and a cooling system provided by a ground source water circulation system known as “slinkys”.

Finally golf fans are catered for at the neighbouring Wentworth Club’s champion golf courses, to which guests enjoy special access.

Coworth Park joins The Dorchester hotel on London’s Park Lane as the second UK property within the Dorchester Collection, with a third hotel, 45 Park Lane, due to open next year (see online news January 29, 2009). Other hotels within the portfolio include Le Meurice in Paris, Hotel Principe di Savoia in Milan, and the New York Palace.

Lead in rates at Coworth Park start from £235 including breakfast.
