Delta brings paperless boarding to London

Delta Air Lines has almost doubled the number of airports it offers paperless “eBoarding” from since the beginning of December. The list now includes Heathrow and Gatwick.
Delta now offers the service, in which boarding passes are downloaded and scanned from a passenger’s smartphone, in 52 cities worldwide up from 28 two months ago. The list includes 11 European destinations such as Frankfurt, Rome and London.
As with other similar mobile boarding pass systems, passengers can download their boarding pass by visiting the Delta website and entering their flight details. Delta said the service was available on all smartphones including iPhones and Blackberrys.
Six more airports will be added to the list in the coming months, according to Delta’s website, and all are in the US. These are Dallas, Los Angeles, Madison, Newark, New York (JFK) and San Francisco.
Delta is not the first US airline to offer mobile boarding passes from a London airport. In June American Airlines rolled-out a similar service at Heathrow (see online news June 30).
