Conrad to open Shanghai property

Hilton Hotel’s
luxury Conrad brand will open its first property in mainland China at the end
of this year.
The 24-storey Conrad Shanghai is located in the Xintiandi area of the city, and will feature 362 rooms, all with 42-inch flatscreen TVs and open plan bathrooms with rain showers.
The hotel’s striking curved-glass exterior has been designed using “window wall patterns” in Chinese granite, based on traditional Chinese latticework from the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD).
There are a total of six restaurants and bars to choose from, including the all-day dining Darling Downs, featuring a show kitchen and serving modern Australian cuisine, and Wabi Sabi, with a sushi and sashimi counter and Japanese grill.
For meetings there are nine functions rooms catering for between eight and 170 delegates, plus a ballroom accommodating up to 600 guests. The wellness zone includes Qin Spa, as well as a gym and indoor pool.
The Conrad Shanghai is due to open this December, and will join the brand’s other Asian properties in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Singapore, Bangkok and The Maldives.
