Collins has launched a series of digital phrasebooks that travellers can download onto their iPod or mobile phones.

The new iPhrasefinder guides allow users to read a phrase as well as hear it. Available in French, Spanish, Italian, German and Portuguese and costing £4.99 (+ VAT), the iPod iPhrasefinders can be purchased at collinslanguage.com/iPodiPhrasefinder or to download to a mobile, visit collinslanguage.com/mobileiPhrasefinder.

iPod compatible versions are also available in Mandarin and Polish with a plan to launch Turkish, Japanese and Finnish iPod iPhrasefinders, in July.

The digital guides contain over 500 phrases with entries as diverse as, “Where can I hire a jetski?”, “Does this contain peanuts” and “Is there a danger of avalanche?”

Travellers’ essential technology needs are covered with the inclusion of phrases such as “Where can I charge my mobile?”, “I’d like a card for my digital camera” and “Does the room have wireless internet access?”.

Collins also offer a series of foreign language digital dictionaries available in French, German and Spanish, priced £9.99 (+ VAT).
