Claridge’s and Gordon Ramsay part company

Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's is to close at the end of June after over a decade of operation. The fine-dining Mayfair restaurant opened in 2001, and features interior décor by Thierry Despont. It held a Michelin star up until 2010. In a statement Gordon Ramsay Holdings said: “We have taken the decision to close Gordon Ramsay at Claridge's in June 2013 following a fantastic collaboration over the last 12 years. “We'd like to thank all our guests for the amazing support they have given for over a decade but felt the time was right to move on to new opportunities and investments. “The group continues to grow from strength to strength and as well as the opening of Union Street Cafe, in September, we are considering sites in Mayfair.” Commenting on the closure Claridge’s general manager Thomas Kochs said: “We thank Gordon and his team for the incredible dedication they have shown in making the restaurant such a success, it has undoubtedly made an important contribution to Claridge’s gastronomic history”. It is understood the restaurant is to close following the failure of the two parties to agree a new long-term contract.
