Cityjet unveils new fare structure

24 Oct 2012 by ScottCarey7

London City-based carrier Cityjet has revamped its fare structure in to three categories, named City Premium, City Flex and City Value, as well as unveiling a new cabin crew uniform and changes to its website.

Cityjet says it has built the new pricing structure for greater flexibility, as it looks to cater towards its key market of business travellers. City Premium is a fully-flexible, fully-refundable fare which can be changed or cancelled at any time up to 15 minutes before departure for no extra fee or difference in the fare. Checked luggage allowance is for two pieces of up to 23kgs each and two pieces of hand luggage up to 12kgs each.

Seats are the same as the other two fares for City Premium customers but are located at the front of the aircraft, with the middle seat left unsold (although this is not guaranteed if the flight is heavily booked) and an upgraded meal is included. Sky Priority, fast track security and airport lounge access are included at applicable airports.  City Premium fares also earn double Flying Blue points.

City Flex is a fully-flexible and fully-refundable economy fare and can be changed or cancelled at any time up to 15 minutes before departure for no extra fee, though any difference in the fare price will need to be paid. Checked luggage allowance is for one piece of up to 23kgs and two pieces of hand luggage up to 12kgs. Onboard refreshments are included in the price.

Finally City Value is a basic, non-refundable economy fare which can be changed for a fee of £60 and any difference in the fare price up to 15 minutes before departure. Luggage allowance is for one piece of hold luggage up to 23kgs and one piece of hand luggage up to 12 kgs. Onboard refreshments are also included in the price.

CEO of Cityjet Christine Ourmières said of the new fare structure, “The majority of our passengers are business flyers and whilst their budgets may differ depending on whether they are a corporate or an SME, their need for flexibility does not.”

The carrier will introduce a new navy blue and red cabin crew uniform, designed by Christian Lacroix, across the network from December 1. Investment in a simplified website interface and the booking process has also been made, with a sneak preview in the image below. This follows a set of website enhancements, including the ability to manage bookings online, implemented by the airline earlier in the year (see online news February 3).

This recent raft of changes comes as the airline looks to return to profitability through a restructuring plan and closely follows the announcement of Cityjet’s first flights to Germany. The two new routes are a daily service to Münster-Osnabruck starting October 29 and a twice daily service to Nuremburg starting January 27 (see online news October 16).
