Cityjet to launch LCY-Munster service

18 Jul 2012 by BusinessTraveller

Air France subsidiary Cityjet will launch daily flights to Munster Osnabruck airport from the end of October, its first route to Germany.

The new service will commence on October 29, with flights departing London City at 0735 (Monday to Thursday), 1430 on Friday, 0755 on Saturday and 1600 on Sunday. The return legs will leave Munster at 1045 Monday to Thursday, 1740 on Friday, 1105 on Saturday and 1920 on Sunday.

Annoucing the route CEO Christine Ourmières said: “Munster is at the forefront of hosting conferences and events for the green technologies industry. By starting services to Munster, CityJet is expanding its appeal to the UK MICE industry as well as facilitating a new trade corridor for the rapidly expanding British green technologies and renewable energies market.

“There is also strong inbound demand for a direct route to the heart of London from Munster given the large number of SMEs based in the airport’s catchment area. In addition, our new route will open up the cultural and historic heart of the Westphalia region of Germany to families and couples looking for a relaxed weekend break.”

There are currently no direct scheduled flights from the UK to Munster-Osnabruck airport – Air Berlin has previously served the airport from London Stansted, and German charter carrier Jetisfaction had also announced planned flights to London Southend airport last year (see online news August 26, 2011), although these did not come to fruition.
