Centro Hotels by RotanaHotel operator Rotana is set to open eight new properties in the Middle East before the end of the year, including the debut of its new Centro Hotels by Rotana brand in Abu Dhabi and two new properties in Dubai.

The long-awaited Centro Hotels by Rotana brand is set to launch its first property in October, on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, with a Dubai debut shortly after.

The Centro brand is aimed at business travellers – the three-star plus properties come with wifi connectivity, full service restaurant C.Taste, the C.Mondo bar, a deli style take-away outlet, and fitness facilities (see online news March 21, 2007).

The 259-room Centro Yas Island, Abu Dhabi will sit next to a new Rotana branded hotel. The 308-room four star deluxe Yas Island Rotana will also open in October, in time for the first Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which will take place on the Yas Marina Circuit. Guests will be able to view the race from hotel balconies.

Also set to open in Abu Dhabi this year is the Park Rotana, located on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi, offering a mix of rooms and suites, as well as conference and banqueting facilities, a swimming pool, fitness centre and six dining venues. Park Rotana, Abu Dhabi will also have an Arjaan Hotel Apartments by Rotana property nearby, aimed at longer term guests.

Abu Dhabi’s second global brand debut of the year will see the opening of Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan by Rotana, the first property to open under Rotana’s newest brand Rayhaan Hotels and Resorts by Rotana, an alcohol-free concept for Muslim guests.

Finally, Hala Arjaan by Rotana will open in Abu Dhabi in November, offering apartment-style accommodation. The property will have a mix of fully equipped studios, one and two bedroom apartments.

Meanwhile, in Dubai, the Centro brand will also see its first opening in the emirate in October, with the opening of Centro Barsha. Located close to Media City, Internet City, Sheikh Zayed Road and the Dubai Financial Centre, Centro Barsha Dubai will have meeting rooms, a gym and a swimming pool, as well as a restaurant, bar and deli take-away.

The second Dubai property to open this year will be the Amwaj Rotana Jumeirah Beach. Situated next to the Arabian Gulf, it will have multipurpose ballroom and meeting rooms. Leisure facilities will include a gym, swimming pool, spa facilities and five dining venues, including Japanese restaurant Benihana.
