Cathay purchases four 777-300ER aircraft

10 Aug 2011 by BusinessTraveller

Cathay Pacific has announced an order for four more Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, expected to be delivered to the carrier between 2013 and 2016 as part of Cathay’s plans to retire older B747 and A340 aircraft.

The carrier has ordered a total of 12 Boeing aircraft – four B777-300ER passenger planes, and eight B777-200 freighters.

Cathay currently operates 22 B777-300ERs, and now has a total of 28 of the aircraft on order, gradually replacing its 21 B747-400s and 13 A340-300s by the end of the decade. The carrier also has 19 Airbus A330s and 32 Airbus A350-900s on order.

Cathay is in the process of rolling out its latest business class seat, which was unveiled at the end of last year (see online news December 7, 2010).
