Belgian carrier Brussels Airlines is set to join Star Alliance next month, following a year-long integration process which has also seen the carrier replace its loyalty scheme with Lufthansa’s Miles and More programme.
The airline is in the process of being acquired by Star Alliance founder carrier Lufthansa, and was integrated into the Miles and More programme on October 26. It will now become a full member of the Star Alliance group as of December 9.
Star Alliance recently welcomed US carrier Continental into its fold (see online news October 27), with Brazilian airline TAM and Greek carrier Aegean also due to join the alliance in due course (see online news October 6, 2008 and May 26, 2009).
