Bmi Regional to use BM flight code

29 Oct 2012 by BusinessTraveller

The newly independent Bmi Regional has replaced the BD flight designator used under its previous incarnation with a new BM flight code.

The carrier flew under the BD code while operating as a subsidiary of Bmi mainline, but relaunched on October 28 as an independent airline following the integration of Bmi’s services into BA’s Heathrow operations.

Going forward the BM IATA flight code will form part of Bmi Regional’s flight numbers (eg: BM1366) – the rest of the flight number will remain the same.

The BM flight code has previously been used by the defunct Air Sicilia and Bayu Indonesia Air.

As part of Bmi Regional’s relaunch the carrier also unveiled a new website at bmiregional.com, announced new routes from Bristol to Aberdeen and Manchester to Antwerp (see online news September 18), and is set to launch a new frequent flyer scheme next month.

Commenting on the change of flight code, chairman Ian Woodley said:

“We are delighted to have acquired the BM code and its introduction marks another step forward in our ongoing development strategy by ensuring our flights are instantly recognisable.

“As a brand we have a tremendous heritage that has been built on providing great customer service. We want to see a return to the core values which people associate with a quality flying experience and are looking to build on our reputation for excellence in all elements of our service going forward."
