Bmi adds A330 to LHR-Tel Aviv route

Bmi is rostering Airbus A330 aircraft on to its twice-daily flights from London to Tel Aviv, complete with fully-flat beds in business class and a premium economy offering with 50 inches of legroom.

From May 3 the aircraft will replace the A321s currently plying the route. They have been made available following the carrier’s decision to drop services from Manchester to Las Vegas and the Caribbean (see online news November 5, 2008). These aircraft feature a three-class product (economy, premium economy and business), as opposed to the two-class configuration (economy and business) offered on Bmi’s A330 flights from London to Saudi Arabia.

The move will increase Bmi’s competitiveness with BA on the London-Tel Aviv route, as both carriers will now offer a fully-flat product in business, and a premium economy cabin. Bmi’s premium economy offering is in fact the airline’s old business class seat, featuring 50 inches of legroom.

The airline moved to a twice-daily service on the London-Tel Aviv route from the end of March, with flights departing Heathrow at 1115 and 2155, arriving into Tel Aviv at 1805 and 0445 respectively. The return legs leave Tel Aviv at 0630 and 1920, landing back in London at 1000 and 2250.
