BA Cityflyer is to launch year-round flights from London City airport to the southern Spanish city of Granada from July 25.

The British Airways subsidiary will serve the route up to four times-weekly using an Embraer E190 aircraft.

Flights will depart LCY on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 0910, arriving into Granada at 1250, with the return leg leaving at 1335 and landing back into London at 1515.

The carrier will operate an additional Thursday service between July 25 and August 29, departing LCY at 1520 and arriving at 1900, with the return leg leaving at 1940 and landing back into London at 2120.

There are currently no non-stop scheduled services from the UK to the Andalusian city, home to the historic Alhambra citadel and palace.

BA Cityflyer has also announced it will increase the frequency of its LCY-Malaga service from four to six flights per week, commencing July 25.

BA CityFlyer .. about time you start flights from LCY to Bergerac .. the Dordogne is a county of the UK & would support all year round flights. CityJet operate to inconvenient Brive.

What a total waste - LCY is a city centre business orriented airport. The vast majority of potential customers for Granada will be leisure travellers. LCY is hugely expensive to get to if you live outside the centre or east London.

My own taxi company from Hampshire refuses to offer a service to LCY because they cannot guarentee to get there in a reasonable time and the costs would be far too high. Cost of parking at LCY are sky high also. This service should run from LGW not LCY.

stuck in hampshire it is a problem but for anyone arriving central london by train, LCY is a great bet...walk out of my Belsize Park flat I have been ON THE PLANE in under an hour...also true for connections from Kings Cross, Euston or Waterloo...

I agree LGW would be better
