BA OpenSkies from June 19?

BA’s subsidiary OpenSkies looks set to launch in mid-June and will do so from Paris Orly with a codeshare agreement operating with all-business class carrier L’Avion.

Recent rumours on several internet flight forums have indicated that the new OpenSkies service would depart from Orly rather than Charles de Gaulle as had originally been mooted (see online news, January 10).

A filing on airlineinfo.com shows that BA European Ltd (trading as OpenSkies) has applied for a codeshare service with Elysair (which is marketed under the name L’Avion, the all-business class carrier operating out of Orly), beginning “on or about June 19, 2008”.

The agreement will call for L’Avion’s AO code to be placed on OpenSkies flights between Orly and JFK. L’Avion’s own services fly between Paris Orly and New York Newark, but the application does not include the OpenSkies code being placed on L’Avion flights.

OpenSkies flights will be served with a B757 aircraft configured with 82 seats in a three-class layout – 24 business class seats, 28 premium economy and 30 in economy.
