BA customers will face an increase of £20 for return long-haul tickets from this Thursday (December 16), as the carrier raises its fuel surcharge by £10 per sector.
BA says that the move, which does not affect short-haul services, “reflects the substantial recent increase in the price of oil”. The £10 increase applies to all cabins on long-haul flights, but World Traveller customers on flights of less than nine hours will see the biggest increase in relative terms, with the surcharge increasing by nearly 19 per cent from £53 to £63.
The full breakdown of the fuel surcharge increase is as follows:
- For World Traveller flights over nine hours there will be an increase of £10 per sector to £76. On flights of less than nine hours there will be an increase of £10 per sector to £63.
- For World Traveller Plus flights over nine hours there will be an increase of £10 per sector to £94.50. On flights of less than nine hours there will be an increase of £10 per sector to £73.
- For First and Club World flights over nine hours there will be an increase of £10 per sector to £108. On flights of less than nine hours there will be an increase of £10 to £88.
