BA cuts Gatwick fares

6 Oct 2011 by BusinessTraveller

British Airways has cut fares for departures from London Gatwick airport by up to 20 per cent, and says that the reductions are “not just for a short sale period”.

The new fares mean passengers will be able to fly to 12 of the carrier’s 29 domestic and European routes from Gatwick for under £40 each way, including Malaga, Bologna and Verona.

Other fare reductions include routes to Faro (from £49), Salzburg (from £59) and Marrakech (from £69).

The move co-incides with BA’s unveiling of a new dedicated check-in hall at Gatwick’s North Terminal, and the carrier will be supporting the reducutions with an ad campaign which it says “highlights British Airways’ low fares and high value ethos at Gatwick”.

Last month BA unveiled its biggest ad campaign in over a decade - for more information and to see the ad, click here. The carrier is also preparing to make major changes to its frequent flyer loyalty scheme, which will be relaunched as the Avios programme from mid November (click here for more details).
