Austrian to serve Iraq from December 11

Austrian Airlines is expected to be the first international scheduled airline to serve Iraq since the US-led invasion. The carrier has announced it will launch twice weekly flights from Vienna into Erbil on December 11.
Erbil is located 80 km east of Mosul in Kurdish-controlled northern Iraq and this new service will provide the region with a lifeline to the outside world. Austrian's new service will connect at Vienna with for cities both in Europe and further afield.
Flights with an Airbus A319 will operate every Monday and Friday from Vienna as OS829 departing at 1020 and arriving in Erbil at 1605. The return service OS458 leaves at 1700 to reach Vienna at 1905.
Passengers can connect from London Heathrow by taking OS458 at 0615 which arrives in Vienna at 0935. On the way back, you can connect with OS457 out of Vienna at 1950 and into Heathrow at 2125.
Fares from Vienna start at Euros 933 return in economy and Euros 1,731 in business class. Fares from London via Vienna to Erbil are slightly higher.
