Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted Express are all extending their services over the next few days to cope with the backlog of flights arriving into and departing from London.

Gatwick Express is currently running a 24-hour service, with the extended timetable “likely to remain in force for the next few days”. It will see extra trains departing Victoria every 30 minutes at 0135, 0200, 0235, 0305 and 0335, with services in the other direction leaving Gatwick at 0205, 0235, 0305, 0335, and 0405.

Heathrow Express says it will run extra trains throughout the night tonight (April 21), with services leaving Heathrow T5 and Paddington every 45 minutes. Note that these extra services will not stop at Heathrow Central (although there will be a free inter-terminal coach service). The additional trains will depart from Paddington between 0030 and 0507, and from T5 between 0030 and 0441, when the normal daily services resume.

Finally Stansted Express says it offered extra services last night, and will do the same again tonight. The additional trains will depart Liverpool Street at 0340 and 0410, and in the other direction will leave Stansted at 0100, 0500 and 0530.

Meanwhile Network Rail says that Paddington, Liverpool Street, Victoria and Gatwick stations will remain open overnight, with extra staff being drafted in. It also says that planned weekend engineering work on the East and West Coast main lines has also been cancelled.
